Phoenix point armor6/4/2023 ![]() ![]() But he doesn’t even appear on the battlefield! What a waste.īionics Research (that you can also get peacefully from New Jericho, but a bit later) isn’t as great as it looks. And while I know that reusing assets is a viable way to cut corners for an indie game, devs could at least make Subject 24, faction’s leader a memorable boss. And even the last mission “The Bionic Fortress” where you finish off this faction takes place in abandoned New Jericho’s haven. There are a few “special” missions that pop up but in truth, they are just kill-em-all again. The only thing you can do with Pure is to destroy them. However, later Pure turn on everyone anyway, so there is no possible alliance or another ending. In fact, when you first receive the message from The Pure, you can help them and get Bionics Research earlier as a result. The Pure, on the other hand, does have a few special events and missions. Basically, they both are just another threat – their groups attack Havens from time to time in addition to Pandorans. Though maybe “factions” is a too generous term. This DLC introduces two new factions – Forsaken and The Pure. It also doesn’t require armor and is especially good against large Pandorans. The best part is that it doesn’t require ammo.īeating the last mission grants you an organic machine gun that fires poison shards. The second is an acid-spewing organic assault rifle. You won’t get any better protection that also doesn’t restrict movement. And while it doesn’t have any special ability (like Heavy’s jump jets) it’s still good for most of the soldier types, especially since there is no research to get some advanced armor. However, upon completing each mission you have a reward – one of those titular “living weapons”.įirst comes organic armor, which has characteristics better than any other armor. All three missions are just kill-em-all, not to mention they have fixed maps. The first one becomes available after Arthron research, second upon completing the first, and so on. ![]() This DLC contains a chain of three missions. And from the art section, reviewers like me can get “featured images” for articles. Manual can help you with a few moments that in-game tutorials gloss over. However, it’s still nice that Snapshot Games released these things. It’s just Extras – music, art, wallpapers. However, having some impressions of the content that Snapshot Games released since Phoenix Point’s initial launch on Epic Games Store, can give you some perspective. I’m not calling this a review, because there isn’t much to review here. Following the advice in the comments to my initial review, I want to tell about Phoenix Point DLCs. ![]()

Lens studio shake6/4/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() For example, in dark shooting conditions, you might need to use both your maximum aperture and a slower shutter speed to ensure that the shot is sufficiently exposed without too much image noise. However, it is not always viable to shoot at 1/focal length. “Camera shake” refers to blurring in the image caused by the movement of the camera, including movement caused by unsteady hands.Īs a rule of thumb, if you want to shoot handheld, your shutter speed has to be a at least 1/focal length seconds to prevent camera shake. How are these numbers measured? Read on to find out more. Geo-local AR – and Custom Landmarkers as a subset – could be propelled by those tailwinds.Image stabilisation performance is usually described in terms of shutter speed stops, such as ”equivalent to 5 shutter speed stops” or ”4 stop equivalent”. Apple’s ATT) has forced advertisers of all sizes to get smart on new alternatives. The combination of a pandemic and privacy reform (e.g. On the bright side, the timing could be right for Landmarkers given the advertising world’s flux. That’s a key component for SMBs, gating any of the above from happening at scale. The platform continues to get easier and easier to use in terms of an object-oriented low-code interface for lens creation. Snap is meanwhile making moves to appeal to non-techy creators with ongoing UX evolutions to Lens Studio. They could spotlight their unique personas through storefront-anchored Landmarkers. For the same reason - but later in the adoption cycle - the long-tail SMB segment could jump on board. It also brings to mind multi-location players: the Shake Shacks and Great Clips of the world can bring their brand campaigns to the last mile. This could include consumer brands to recording artists to sports franchises that plant lens activations outside venues like Arena. There, it could be the latest format that adds new dimension to the marketing mix. – think virtual street art with an interactive kick.īut Nicoll’s goal is to bring this flavor of lenses to his entertainment and brand clients. BLNK founder and creative director Michael Nicoll tells me he’s been working with Custom Landmarkers to create geo-anchored artistic fare around L.A. What other use cases could develop? Like the broader lens universe, the results will be both practical and whimsical. These can both launch the intended lens and serve as a sort of nudge or reminder for users to pull out their phones and fire up Snapchat to see something cool. That makes them a sort of physical-media bridge to a “ real-world metaverse.”īoiling this down to a real-life example, a theme park or tourist attraction could create Landmarkers around their grounds and plant Snapcodes accordingly. Furthermore, QR codes are a familiar medium with which users are comfortable – especially Snapcodes within the Snapchat community. This marker-based approach is important in the near term, as consumers still need that nudge. They can then plant that code at the location as a call-to-action for passers-by to scan the code. Specifically, Custom landmarkers are activated through Snapcodes that creators generate when they build the Landmarker itself. In other words, Snap is assembling location-based spatial mapping data to understand the world computationally.īut in the nearer term, Snap is going with a more familiar activation trigger: QR codes. It could also serve as a trigger for future lens activation. It helps developers create lenses that integrate contextually and dimensionally with a given place. The physical scanning happens for a few reasons. They’ll involve a process for developers and lens creators to scan a given location with their smartphone, then create a lens that’s endemic to that place and digitally anchored to it. Snap’s new Custom Landmarkers are available in the latest update to Lens Studio, which is Snap’s AR creation platform. And it seems to be working, given that Snap now gets 6 billion daily lens plays. It started with a handful of in-house lenses like rainbow vomit and dog ears, before opening up the Lens Studio platform to creators everywhere. This notably follows Snap’s longstanding AR lens playbook. With that will come all kinds of new use cases that creators run with. This takes the 30 or so Landmarkers that Snap has created in-house and extends their potential to the scale of the inhabitable earth. Now, Custom Landmarkers essentially open up and crowdsource the program so that anyone can build one. They bring to life famous landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, Pyrmid of Giza, and Flatiron Building. For those unfamiliar, Landmarkers are an existing Snapchat style of AR lenses that are anchored to physical-world waypoints. ![]() As you may or may not have seen, Snap last week launched Custom Landmarkers. ![]() Pentagon lockdown6/4/2023 ![]() ![]() Moreover, the Biden administration had ample opportunity and legal justification to withdraw from the agreement or insist on modifications. and Afghan interests of the hasty withdrawal. deaths in Afghanistan for a full year the risks were minimal compared to the costs to U.S. The administration stated it did not seek changes to the agreement because of concern that attacks on the 2,500-man contingent of remaining U.S. It complained that “The departing Trump administration had left the Biden administration with a date for withdrawal, but no plan for executing it.” Yet it acknowledges that, despite the known existence of the Trump-Taliban agreement since February of 2020, Biden had not made a “final decision to leave Afghanistan” until months after he took office. Help her and she'll offer to make you lunch at the restaurant she runs. You can choose to confront them and save her, offer to help them, ignore the situation completely, or wait a few moments until her friend rushes to her aid. For instance, you begin the game near a bridge where a group of brigands are running off with a local girl. The game itself takes only a few short hours to play through, but there are a number of branching paths that lead to different events and endings depending on the choices you've made throughout. The townspeople are caught in the middle, and your own role in all of this is up to you. Set in the period in Japanese history when the role of the samurai has begun to fade, Way of the Samurai sees you as a ronin who's wandered into a town where a feud rages between two rival clans. You can completely change the course of the game by your actions. Way of the Samurai is short and doesn't look like much, but it's an unusual game that can be a lot of fun. This one's most notable features are its branching storyline and, to a lesser extent, its complex combat system. It would be easy to assume that Way of the Samurai might play much like Tenchu without the stealth aspect, but in fact they're distinctly different games. Acquire has tackled a different, although similar, theme with Way of the Samurai: Instead of playing as a ninja in feudal Japan, you act as a masterless samurai, or ronin. ![]() Fans of the Tenchu series have been waiting for Acquire's first PlayStation 2 game with no small degree of interest, while a new developer works on creating Tenchu III. ![]() Henchman story guide6/4/2023 ![]() ![]() But then we see the glove again in a post-credits scene from Avengers: Age of Ultron. There they encounter Red Skull, the villain from the first Captain America movie, who has been doomed to guard but not use the Soul Stone after trying to handle the Space Stone himself. In Infinity War, Thanos travels with Gamora to the planet Vormir, where the Soul Stone is kept. He does so and disintegrates when Thanos snaps his fingers. He gleans that he will have to give up the stone to Thanos in order for the Avengers to eventually defeat the Mad Titan. Later, he uses the power of the Time Stone to look into the many possible futures at the end of the Infinity War. He returns the Stone to Kamar-Taj, where he currently resides, at the end of the movie.ĭoctor Strange wears the Time Stone throughout Infinity War and even tells Iron Man that if he has to choose between giving up the stone and saving the lives of the Avengers, he’ll prioritize the stone. Wisely, Doctor Strange doesn’t hand over the stone to a sketchy junk collector or a hapless policeman and decides to watch over it himself. Thanos (who has already acquired the Time Stone at this point), simply reverses time, kills Vision and takes the stone for himself. But when Thanos’ army overtakes Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) destroys the stone, killing Vision in the process. The Mind Stone resides in Vision’s forehead, and the Avengers vow to protect the superhero. Curiously, it does not give him the ability to control minds. The stone gives Vision a lot of powers, including super-strength, the ability to fly and the power to phase through walls and people like a ghost. Apparently, those two have not read Frankenstein because they’re super surprised when Ultron turns on them.Īfter some bickering, the Avengers eventually use the Mind Stone to create another android, Vision (Paul Bettany). Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) use the Mind Stone to create Ultron (James Spader), an artificially intelligent peace-keeping program. The backdrop of classic comic book aesthetics helps to create the right atmosphere, and it has great repeatability for some players, since it can be challenging to find every ending to the game. The Avengers recover Loki’s scepter at the beginning of Avengers: Age of Ultron.
